How to Choose the Best Drawer Slides for the Job (Locking vs Non-Locking)

How to Choose the Best Drawer Slides for the Job (Locking vs Non-Locking) - 1

There is technically no right or wrong answer when it comes to choosing your drawer slide. However, there are advantages and disadvantages to both locking & non-locking drawer slides which need to be considered. These pros & cons will often make your decision much simpler.

There are 3 factors to consider when choosing a drawer slide, extension required, weight required and your application. The first two speak for themselves, but the application will often dictate whether you require locking or non-locking drawer slides. Popular applications for locking drawer slides include, fridge slides, generator slides, battery slides, BBQ slides & slide out kitchens. The main reason for this is the locking slides allow you lock out, which on an uneven surface is very useful. Non-locking drawer slides are typically used on drawers that have a drawer front which does not allow access to the locking leavers or in applications which are level and don’t require a lock out feature.
