In the rare event that mud or sand does build up along the slides, impacting the accessibility to the drawer, you can simply hose them out with water and have them working as efficiently as new.

Weight rating

These heavy duty and completely galvanised drawer slides are rated to hold 100-kilograms at 500 square millimetres. All base mount wall slides from Dunn and Watson come with a weight rating which allows you to know how much weight it can bear per 500 square mm when equally and universally displaced. 4WD application

The 100kg base mount drawer slide is particularly beneficial for use as a fridge or barbeque slide as part of the vehicle drawer system in a four-wheel drive, caravan, ute, van or camper trailer unit. The soft roller drawer runners are designed for heavy and repeated use and are fitted with sealed bearings on each end to ensure that no dust, dirt, sand, or mud can get stuck inside and mess with the runner mechanism.

Practical for everyday use

In addition to being heavy duty capable and highly durable, the drawer slides offer versatility and practicality for everyday use. If you want to disconnect and remove your unit, simply slide out the drawer to its full extension and raise the nose to a 45-degree angle. This will allow you to lift and remove it from the slides. Note: the 227 series is not disconnectible due to its rigorous reinforcement to allow for extra weight bearing.

Size ranges

Dunn and Watson’s slide drawers come in a number of lengths and sizes to suit all sorts of applications. The heavy duty size ranges from 356mm to 2,007mm; the medium duty ranges from 356mm to 1,016mm; and the light duty ranges from 250mm to 700mm. Each size offers full extension for complete ease of use and accessibility as well as zinc plated coatings. The 45mm option also comes in stainless steel on request specifically for marine or related applications.

Choosing the right drawer slide for you

When choosing the right drawer slide, you should take three main factors into consideration:

Vehicle cargo space

While just about no utes, four-wheel-drive or other vehicles are equipped for drawers and slides that exceed 450mm in length, different vehicles offer different sized cargo spaces. It’s important that you have a look and measure of your vehicle so you know the sized drawer and unit that will fit best.

Extension preference

Extension functionality is important for ensuring maximum reach and easy accessibility to the contents of your drawer. While we recommend 70% extension as a minimum (this means that 70% of the drawer can be pulled out and cleared off the top) there are benefits to shorter drawer extensions to reduce costs and offer greater weight carrying capacity. The longer the drawer the weaker its carrying capacity.

Application and use

Remember to consider what sort of items you’ll be using your drawer slides for. Lots of little boxes or compartments will require greater extension, while longer or bigger items may need greater strength and less accessibility.

Locking or unlocking drawer slides?

Dunn and Watson’s drawer slides come in both locking and unlocking models. The locking slides keep the extended drawer locked in place making it the perfect solution for camping barbeques or pull-out fridges. Unlocking drawer slides do not lock out and offer a practical solution to drawers that are front facing lockable that aren’t compatible with side tabs.
