How To Replace A Rubber Gasket On A Lock Once It Perishes

How To Replace A Rubber Gasket On A Lock Once It Perishes - 2

Here at Dunn & Watson, locks are supplied with a natural rubber gasket. This is perfect if you’re using this lock internally or on an application that won’t be exposed to the elements. However, this rubber gasket over a period time in the sun & weather can be prone to cracking and eventually leaking. Our compression locks, paddle handles and folding T handles for example, are designed to last much longer than any rubber gasket. So here is a quick fix that won’t cost you much and will allow you to continue to use your existing locks. Simply remove the existing gasket and run a bead of UV stable silicone adhesive around where the gasket to sit. This will not only seal your lock to the body with outstanding UV resistance, but it will also provide extra adhesive. I hope this has been helpful.
